Synergy of the academic, private, and civil sectors in strengthening cybersecurity capacities

At the University of Montenegro, the first training of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), in collaboration with the University of Montenegro and the National University of Public Service in Hungary, took place under the title: "Fundamentals of Cybersecurity for Non-Technical Professionals." The training was held from January 23 to 25, 2024.

This marks the first ESDC training in Montenegro and is supported by Sky Express Montenegro, a partner in numerous research and educational initiatives of the University of Montenegro in the field of cybersecurity, with logistical support from Women4Cyber Montenegro.

Vladimir Božović, the Rector of the University of Montenegro, emphasized that embracing the digital era recognizes the complexities and challenges it brings, especially in the field of cybersecurity.

Majo Micovic, President of the Montenegro-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Director of Sky Express Montenegro, the company supporting this program, highlighted the three essential elements for raising awareness about cybersecurity and the dangers associated with digital technologies: collaboration among the academic community, the public sector, and the business community.

"Cybersecurity is a critical step for general safety. The positive changes that have occurred since 2022 are evident. Clear steps have been taken, and serious efforts have been made to make those who provide data feel better and safer. The implementation of European Union directives is crucial to help all users better understand the extent of internet-related dangers, minimizing them through appropriate techniques, technologies, and human capital," explained Mićović.
